The Beach Music Journal

Edgefield / Columbia, SC & Augusta, GA

My first Beach Music experience was at the town pool in the late 1960's.

The greatest places for Beach Music during my Carolina days (1978-82) are now all closed. The Tally Ho, the Library Club, and the Top of the Five (all in Columbia, SC) were great.

I remember hearing "Ms Grace" for the first time at the Top of the Five in 1978. Also, "When She Was My Girl" (4 Tops), "Dangling On A String" (Chairmen of the Board), and "Bless You" (Chairmen of the Board) were great.

[Brad says one of the great hangouts was Man O' War in Augusta, GA --ed].
