The (Swingin') Embers

(yes, they were once known as the Swingin' Embers on Ace records!)

The Embers' story was published in Carolina Class magazine, Vol 2 No 13, July 1988. That issue also includes a story about Shad and Brenda Alberty, two of the most productive Shag instructors of the 70s, 80s and 90s, with thousands of students who went on to win every major dance contests and become ambassadors of Shag all over the U.S.

Carolina Class was published by WRDX-FM radio (Beach 106.5); the first, full-time Beach Music station.....pumping 100,000 watts of the Rhythms of the Beach for eight years before it changed hands in 1995.

There were 36 issues of Carolina Class, some rarer than others (especially Vol. 2 No. 22 which never hit the newstands).
